Anritsu Expands IoT Emergency Call Connectivity Testing for Dual-SIM Devices Across Japanese Carriers
Anritsu Corporation has announced that its 5G NR Mobile Device Test Platform ME7834NR now supports interoperability testing for Technical Standard Conformity Certification related to Dual-SIM capabilities in mobile devices. With this enhancement, devices can maintain ongoing communication through a secondary line if the main line fails, and users can manage voice and data separately for greater cost efficiency. Dual-SIM technology is increasingly utilized for both reliability and savings, and ME7834NR’s expanded testing capability helps manufacturers and carriers certify this feature with improved reliability and efficiency.
This new test function was introduced following issues where emergency calls failed to connect, depending on device and SIM combinations—an issue that surfaced with the wider adoption of multi-SIM phones. Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will require interoperability for mobile devices starting 1 July 2025, and some related technical standards are planned for implementation in January 2026.
Anritsu aims to support a stable, secure society by delivering dependable measurement tools that help ensure reliable communications.
