Asia Tech x Singapore Summit: Advancing AI Collaboration
EDB Singapore states that during the AsiaTech x Singapore (ATx) summit in May, EDB Singapore and Digital Industry Singapore (DISG) organized events to foster collaboration within Singapore’s AI ecosystem. Leading figures from AI-native companies, international corporations, and key infrastructure providers such as Oracle, Seaco, YCH Group, DBS, McKinsey, and Cohere participated in discussions focused on accelerating AI adoption across various sectors. Additionally, DISG hosted a closed-door networking event for 24 high-growth AI startups, giving them a platform to pitch to 12 potential venture capitalists and investors. The event concluded with a panel sharing strategic recommendations.
800 New AI Training Opportunities, 500 GenAI Projects in 12 Months
EDB Singapore highlights that 800 new training opportunities for AI practitioners will be created over the next three years, through initiatives such as the enhanced AI Apprenticeship Programme (AIAP) Industry under AI Singapore (AISG) and joint programmes with tech leaders. These initiatives are designed to expand Singapore’s pool of over 6,000 AI professionals and meet industry demand. In parallel, up to 500 new generative AI (GenAI) projects are set for launch in the next 12 months, benefiting 1,000 enterprises under the GenAI x Digital Leaders initiative. Major firms like Alibaba Cloud, ST Engineering, and Prudential Singapore are supporting these efforts.
GenAI Starter Kit for Enterprises Launched
EDB Singapore states that the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and the AI Verify Foundation have introduced a Global AI Assurance Pilot, enabling GenAI applications to be tested in real-world scenarios by 17 organizations in 10 sectors. Notable participants include Singapore’s Changi General Hospital, which used GenAI to summarize medical reports, and Tookitaki, which improved AI model trustworthiness for fraud detection. The pilot’s results contributed to a GenAI testing starter kit for enterprises and reinforced the value of human expertise in AI validation.
Singapore’s Support for AMD Semiconductor Innovation
According to EDB Singapore, Singapore has been a regional base for AMD for more than forty years, driving growth and collaboration across Asia Pacific. AMD’s research and engineering in Singapore are essential to regional operations. Peter Chambers, APAC Managing Director at AMD, noted in an interview with EDB Singapore that the Asia-Pacific AI market is projected to reach US$78 billion (S$100 billion) by 2027, led by sectors such as healthcare, industrial automation, security, and research.
PwC, Tomoro AI, and Thales Expand AI Investment in Singapore
EDB Singapore highlights that Tomoro AI, in partnership with OpenAI, has set up its Asia-Pacific HQ in Singapore and plans to hire 30+ AI professionals and develop local research and upskilling programs. PwC has committed over US$4 million (S$5.13 million) over three years to launch an AI Hub in Singapore, scaling AI solutions in finance and logistics and growing its team from 3 to 15 since January 2025. French company Thales has launched its cortAIx SG accelerator in Singapore, supported by EDB Singapore, and is partnering with CAAS, DSTA, and HTX to strengthen ethical and effective AI adoption, integrating into a global network of 800 AI and data specialists.
