The Computer Giant has rolled out a new generation of enterprise AI and hybrid cloud innovations designed to make artificial intelligence production-ready, secure, and scalable for large organizations. As reported by AI Magazine, the announcement was made during IBM TechXchange 2025, showcasing tools that move companies beyond experimental AI into real-world operations.
At the event, They introduced its new agentic AI framework, watsonx Orchestrate, featuring over 500 customizable tools and domain-specific AI agents. Built to simplify complex workflows, Orchestrate enables users to create, deploy, and manage AI agents that can collaborate across multiple business functions. The platform also includes AgentOps, a governance layer providing real-time transparency and observability for monitoring AI systems.
According to Dinesh Nirmal, Senior Vice President of Products at IBM Software, “AI productivity is the new speed of business.” He emphasized that these updates remove bottlenecks throughout the technology lifecycle, enabling greater developer productivity, orchestration, and infrastructure intelligence across their portfolio.
IBM’s AI-Powered IDE: Project Bob
Among the highlights is their Project Bob, a next-generation Integrated Development Environment (IDE) designed to modernize the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). The IDE integrates AI assistance to help developers write, test, upgrade, and secure code faster. Users can chat directly with Bob inside the editor, benefiting from an AI that understands the enterprise’s architecture and codebase.
They reported that over 6,000 developers are already using Bob, achieving an average 45% productivity gain. The project is currently in tech preview, marking a milestone in embedding AI deeply into enterprise development environments.
IBM and Anthropic Partnership for Safer AI
The computer giant has also announced a partnership with Anthropic, integrating its Claude LLM into their products, including Project Bob. Dinesh Nirmal stated on LinkedIn that fewer than 5% of enterprises currently achieve ROI from AI investments, and this collaboration aims to bridge that gap.
Mike Krieger, Chief Product Officer at Anthropic, said that enterprises seek AI they can “actually trust with their code, their data, and their day-to-day operations.” He added that Claude has become the “go-to AI for developers at major global firms” due to its reliability and safety focus. The partnership with IBM is expected to expand this trust to more enterprise users while building open standards for useful and secure AI agents.
They are also extending its agentic AI framework to mainframes through watsonx Assistant for Z. The upcoming IBM Z agents will enable proactive system management, coordinating across assistants and tools, understanding conversational context, and automating operational tasks while maintaining compliance and security standards.
