Indonesia to Build $368.5M Quantum AI Data Center – Worldvuer iByond and Tunas Prima
Indonesia will develop Asia’s first Quantum AI Data Center with an initial investment of 6 trillion rupiah (US$368.5 million), according to Tech in Asia. The project was formalized on July 9, 2025, through a partnership between Silicon Valley-based Worldvuer iByond Limited and Tunas Prima Industrial Estate in Jakarta, with support from Indonesia’s Ministry of Investment and BKPM, Tech in Asia reports.
Tech in Asia notes that the facility will be located in Tunas Prima Industrial Estate, Batam, Riau Islands, an area powered by renewable energy sources such as solar panels and independent water processing. The region is already home to global manufacturers like Apple.
Deputy Minister of Investment Todotua Pasaribu stated that the collaboration seeks to build a strong digital future for Asia, according to Tech in Asia.
Worldvuer iByond Limited, known for its Vovea iByond Operating System, combines quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and big data analytics, aiming for processing speeds and capacities beyond traditional data centers, Tech in Asia highlights. The company is also seeking further partnerships in the energy and telecommunications sectors with local entities, including Telkom Group and the Ministry of Communication and Digital.
According to Tech in Asia, this initiative positions Indonesia in the global race for quantum technology, an area where China, the US, and Japan have already invested heavily—China has committed approximately $150 billion to AI, the US has passed the National Quantum Initiative Act with $1.2 billion over five years, and Japan is investing 100 billion yen (about $920 million) in quantum technologies.
Indonesia’s move to host Asia’s first Quantum AI Data Center strategically aligns the country as a regional technology hub, Tech in Asia observes. The choice of Batam reflects a global trend toward selecting locations with favorable geography and regulations for advanced technology infrastructure.
Tech in Asia also points out that Southeast Asia is emerging as a key region for AI data center investment, with the market projected to reach $30.47 billion by 2030 at a CAGR of 14.24%. Major global tech players are increasing their commitments in the region—Google with $1 billion in Thailand, Oracle and AWS investing $6.5 billion and $6.2 billion, respectively, in Malaysia. Indonesia itself expects data center capacity to rise from 202 MW in early 2024 to 743 MW of AI-ready capacity soon, Tech in Asia reports.
This investment surge is driven by Southeast Asia’s strategic location, supportive government policies, and the world’s largest internet user base, creating robust demand for local data processing, Tech in Asia adds.
Tech in Asia further highlights that government incentives such as tax holidays, import duty exemptions, and streamlined regulations via the OSS system are key strategies Indonesia uses to attract technology investment. With AI projected to contribute up to $366 billion per year to Indonesia’s GDP by 2030, these incentives are seen as vital, according to Tech in Asia.
Finally, Tech in Asia notes that the Quantum AI Data Center’s placement in a green industrial zone in Batam demonstrates how sustainability and advanced technology are converging in Indonesia’s investment strategy. The collaboration between Worldvuer iByond Limited and local stakeholders, with government support, presents a model for technology infrastructure across Asia that integrates global expertise and local development goals.
