M1 Launch IoT Enterprise 5G RedCap Services in Singapore
M1 Becomes First Publicly Known Telco in Singapore’s Southeast Asia to Launch Enterprise 5G RedCap Services
SINGAPORE, Late May 2025 — M1 has launched its commercial 5G Reduced Capability (RedCap) services for enterprise customers, marking a significant milestone in the rollout of its 5G-Advanced Network. The telco is the first publicly known operator in Southeast Asia to introduce RedCap services tailored for the enterprise segment.
5G RedCap is a streamlined version of 5G designed for devices that require moderate speeds and lower power consumption. It bridges the gap between legacy IoT technologies and full-scale 5G implementations, delivering enhanced reliability, reduced latency, extended battery life, improved coverage, lower costs, and stronger security—key attributes for industrial and business-critical use cases.
M1’s RedCap offering builds upon its existing portfolio of enterprise-grade 5G capabilities, including Network Slicing, Speed Priority, VIP Access, and 5G Downlink and Uplink Carrier Aggregation. These are supported by M1’s Standalone 5G network, which provides full island-wide coverage and maritime 5G coverage along Singapore’s southern coast.

“M1 is setting the standard for enterprise connectivity in the region,” said Andrew Cheng, Chief of Enterprise Services at M1. “By launching 5G RedCap services, we are enabling businesses to unlock new levels of operational efficiency and scalability.”
The deployment is powered by Nokia’s RedCap technology, which enables connectivity for emerging categories of devices, such as industrial IoT systems and low-power wearables, that do not require the full feature set of standard 5G.
Jae Won, Senior Vice President and Head of APAC for Mobile Networks at Nokia, stated: “The introduction of 5G RedCap will unlock new opportunities for many industries, with potentially billions of new devices connected with 5G.”
Note: The ‘billions’ figure is a projection and not supported by specific market data in the release.
To support the rollout, M1 has partnered with Ransnet, a Singapore-based IoT and connectivity solutions provider, to accelerate the development and deployment of RedCap-compatible devices tailored for enterprise applications.
This development reinforces M1’s commitment to advancing enterprise connectivity and supporting Singapore’s digital transformation through next-generation 5G innovation.
