Arjan Toor, Prudential’s CEO of Health, highlighted how MedLM has simplified the traditionally labor-intensive process of health claims assessment. “Prudential’s early tests with MedLM demonstrate that generative AI can play a major role in efficiently tackling the growing volume of health insurance claims, resulting in more frictionless processing and a faster turnaround time for customers,” said Toor.

Pilot Program and Future Implementation

The initial deployment of MedLM for health insurance claims will take place over the next three to four months in Singapore and Malaysia. During this period, the AI system’s performance will be compared to human decision-making processes to ensure reliability and accuracy. By maintaining a “human in the loop” approach, Prudential aims to monitor MedLM’s recommendations while retaining critical oversight in sensitive cases.

This pilot phase will allow Prudential to identify specific areas where MedLM provides the most significant productivity improvements. The insights gained from this trial will guide further AI integration across the company’s broader claims assessment operations.

Prudential aims to expand generative AI across various stages of the customer healthcare experience—from diagnosis and treatment to recovery and preventive care—thereby reinforcing its commitment to digitally enabled, seamless healthcare support.
