Sequans Communications Launches Iris: Next-Gen RF Integrated Transceivers for SDR Applications
Sequans Communications Launches Iris: Next-Gen RF Integrated Transceivers for SDR Applications
Paris, France, July 23, 2025 — Sequans Communications S.A. (NYSE: SQNS), a leader in cellular IoT semiconductor solutions and early adopter of Bitcoin as a treasury reserve, has introduced Iris, a new family of RF Integrated Transceivers for Software Defined Radio (SDR) applications. Designed for essential uses in defense, aerospace, drones, V2X, routers, and 5G systems, Iris aims to set new benchmarks in RF performance, flexibility, and reliability.
The Iris series is a result of Sequans’ acquisition of ACP earlier this year. ACP, known for RF semiconductor innovations, has deployed millions of RF transceivers across 5G small cells, drones, and V2X systems. By combining Sequans’ IoT strengths with ACP’s RF expertise, the new Iris products deliver next-generation RF solutions for SDR.
Iris SQN9506: The Flagship of the Sequans Iris Series
The Iris SQN9506 is engineered for high-performance, resilient, multi-channel communication within a compact, energy-efficient design. Highlights include:
- Ultra-wide frequency support: 220 MHz to 7.125 GHz, 200 MHz instantaneous bandwidth
- High channel density: 20 Rx and 4 Tx, enabling up to 4×4 MIMO
- Advanced RF: 10 synthesizers for simultaneous scanning and observation
- Anti-jamming: Unlimited frequency hopping, ultra-fast switching
- Interfaces: DigRF v4.0, JESD204C
- Power efficiency: Sleep mode at 0.2 mA, Standby at 3 mA, Idle at 8 mA
- Small footprint: 8.4 x 4.8 x 1 mm, 178-pin BGA package
- Integration: Easily connects with any FPGA processor
Georges Karam, CEO and President of Sequans, commented, “With Iris, Sequans is redefining what’s possible in SDR—delivering unmatched performance, integration, and adaptability for the most demanding RF needs. The Iris line meets critical SDR requirements. We are excited to incorporate ACP’s technology into this new series.”
This launch demonstrates Sequans’ ongoing focus on innovation in advanced semiconductors for IoT. The Iris SQN9506 is now shipping to initial customers.
