Siemens AG selected as Official Digital Twin Sponsor by FIA
The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has chosen Siemens as its Official Digital Twin Sponsor, further expanding its adoption of Siemens Xcelerator to design and refine the next generation of race car concepts. As part of the FIA Global Partnership Programme, Siemens will support aerodynamic innovation through advanced software solutions.
Using Siemens’ Designcenter NX software, the Fédération can design highly complex vehicle models, visualize them in realistic detail, and run computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations. This enables performance and safety testing in a virtual environment, reducing reliance on physical prototypes and wind tunnel testing. Since 2022, FIA’s aerodynamics team has generated more than 14,000 CAD parts and conducted over 10,000 CFD runs, minimizing environmental impact while enhancing development speed.
Cedrik Neike, CEO of Digital Industries and Member of Siemens AG’s Managing Board, emphasized motorsport as a “living lab for innovation,” noting how Siemens’ immersive digital twin technology advances performance, safety, and sustainability. Craig Edmondson, The Fédération’s Chief Commercial Officer, highlighted Siemens’ role in strengthening the FIA’s partner network.
The Fédération‘s Global Partnership Programme fosters collaboration with world-class organizations to drive innovation, safety, and sustainability in motorsport and mobility. Through this initiative, Siemens joins a global network working to pioneer technological advancements across the racing and automotive sectors.
