Mobile World Live reports that Siemens is leveraging its digital twin technologies to support modular housebuilder Admares in mass producing smart dwellings, a move the company asserts will help alleviate the global shortage of affordable housing.
According to the report, Siemens’ Xcelerator open business platform integrates digital twin, advanced manufacturing, and automation tools into Admares’ smart factory operations. Within these factories, homes are assembled on production lines, with on-site work limited to connecting units—a process that can be completed within a single day.
Admares stated that digital twins are vital for planning and executing production, enabling highly efficient and consistent homebuilding at scale. Siemens added that the design and digital-first processes in Admares’ facilities are intended to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by up to 75 per cent compared with conventional residential construction.
Eryn Devola, Siemens Digital Industries’ head of sustainability, noted that digital twin, automation, and manufacturing systems “empowered Admares to industrialise homebuilding by cutting emissions, reducing waste, and accelerating delivery.”
Admares builds its dwellings with precision-engineered steel structures designed to withstand natural disasters. Each home is built with a minimum expected lifespan of 100 years, a durability standard intended to set a benchmark for sustainable and resilient housing.
