Skylo Partners With Vodafone IoT to Expand NTN NB-IoT Satellite Connectivity for Global Customers

Skylo Technologies and Vodafone IoT have entered into a strategic partnership to trial and introduce Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) Narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) satellite connectivity for enterprise customers, marking a significant step toward seamless global IoT coverage. The collaboration, announced by Vodafone IoT in its newsroom release, is designed to combine satellite and terrestrial cellular connectivity into a unified service accessed through a single Vodafone SIM.

In the initial phase, the two companies will focus on validating the technology through trials, with the intention of moving toward a fully commercial offering. Skylo operates a global Non-Terrestrial Network spanning 36 countries and covering approximately 70 million square kilometres, forming the satellite backbone of the service. By overlaying NTN connectivity onto existing cellular networks, Vodafone IoT aims to extend reliable coverage to areas where traditional mobile infrastructure is limited or unavailable.

The integration of Skylo’s network with Vodafone IoT’s core infrastructure will allow IoT devices to switch seamlessly between cellular and satellite connectivity without requiring hardware changes or multiple subscriptions. This hybrid model is expected to benefit sectors including asset tracking, energy services, environmental monitoring, and fleet management, where uninterrupted connectivity across borders is critical. Customers will continue to manage both terrestrial and NTN connections through Vodafone IoT’s Managed Connectivity Platform, maintaining a single operational view of their IoT estates.

Skylo’s network architecture orchestrates connectivity across multiple satellite constellations and is designed to integrate directly with existing chipsets, modules, and operating systems. The company has certified modules from a broad global ecosystem, enabling a wide range of IoT use cases without custom development. According to Vodafone IoT, the partnership reflects growing enterprise demand for scalable, secure, and resilient connectivity solutions that can operate consistently across diverse geographies.

Commenting on the collaboration, Vodafone IoT CEO Erik Brenneis said the partnership represents a meaningful advance in delivering truly global IoT connectivity, improving network access, reliability, and resilience for customers. Skylo Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder Parthsarathi Trivedi described the trial as a critical milestone in bringing standards-based, 3GPP-compliant satellite connectivity into Vodafone’s IoT ecosystem, demonstrating that “anywhere connectivity” is now commercially viable at global scale.

The announcement, published by Vodafone IoT, positions the partnership as part of a broader industry shift toward hybrid connectivity models that blur the lines between terrestrial and satellite networks, enabling new classes of IoT applications in previously unreachable locations.
