Rokid Officially Launches World’s Lightest Full-Function AI & AR Smart Glasses
NEW YORK – Rokid, a pioneer in human-computer interaction and augmented reality, has officially unveiled the Their latest Tech Glasses in New York City, presenting the world’s lightest full-function AI and AR smart glasses and marking a milestone in wearable AI computing.
Weighing just 49 grams, The Smart Glasses integrate a 12MP first-person camera, Micro LED waveguide displays, and integrated audio. Designed for both professional and consumer use, they deliver real-time translation, object recognition, navigation, transcription, notifications, and other AI-powered capabilities in a discreet, all-day wearable. Built on the Qualcomm AR1 platform, the glasses balance style, performance, and industrial-grade reliability for everyday use.
The device is supported by China’s largest XR developer community, with over 15,000 developers and 5,000 corporate developers already using Rokid’s open SDK and resources. This year, Rokid is expanding globally to bring more than 1,000 international developers into the network. The company has also partnered with over 50 universities worldwide, involving more than 5,000 students and faculty through hackathons, certification programs, and training initiatives. Over 200 academic and industry projects have already been built on Rokid’s SDK and cloud platform, supported by active developer groups and forums that strengthen its global XR ecosystem.
The launch event featured a panel discussion titled “From Mobile to Wearable: The Rise of AI Glasses.” Participants included Andrea Smith, technology journalist with CNN Underscored and former ABC News correspondent; Dr. Vasant Dhar, Professor at NYU Stern School of Business and the Center for Data Science; Dr. Orson Xu, Assistant Professor at Columbia University specializing in AI for health; and Dr. Shawn Shen, founder of Memories AI and former research scientist at Meta. Topics ranged from adoption trends and human-computer interaction to healthcare applications, privacy, trust, and the broader role of wearable AI in society.
Rokid also introduced a podcast session, “AI Glasses For Social Good,” with Liang Guan, Head of Global Partnership Development at Rokid, in conversation with two executive speakers from CaringKind, New York City’s leading Alzheimer’s and dementia caregiving organization. With more than 40 years of expertise, CaringKind provides training, resources, and advocacy. The discussion highlighted how AI-powered glasses can improve accessibility, caregiving, and memory support for communities facing cognitive decline.
The launch marked the beginning of Rokid’s “Dream Journey” World Tour, designed to show how AI glasses fit into daily life. The first storytellers—Jesse Torres, Max Manausa, Jocelyn Chiu, and Liee Ying—will embark on dream itineraries funded by Rokid. Their stories include a skateboarder exploring foreign streets, a tech analyst testing wearables during fast-paced travel, and a couple capturing their honeymoon, all sharing personal experiences through the lens of Rokid Glasses.
Rokid Glasses quickly gained momentum, raising USD 400,000 in just eight hours on Kickstarter. “Today’s launch is not the end of a journey – it is the beginning of a new chapter,” said Zoro Shao, Global General Manager of Rokid. “With Rokid Glasses, we are not only shaping the future of AR, but also creating a future where technology removes barriers and empowers everyone.” The glasses are now available for early supporters on Kickstarter.
Rokid has focused on human-computer interaction for over a decade, developing both hardware and software for AR headsets and related ecosystems. With the largest XR developer community in China, its products are among the most recognized wearable devices in the country. Rokid has won the CES Innovation Award for three consecutive years and the German IF Design Award five times.
