Samsung Galaxy XR Launches: a new category of AI-native devices built on an open, scalable Android XR platform developed with Google and Qualcomm Technologies. Samsung Galaxy XR redefines how people connect with technology through voice, vision and gesture. It is the first device built on Android XR with Gemini AI embedded at the system level. This lets the headset see, hear and understand its surroundings, responding in conversational ways that feel human. By acting as a companion rather than a tool, Samsung Galaxy XR enables natural and intuitive interactions that turn daily tasks into immersive experiences.
Open Collaboration and Ecosystem
Samsung, Google and Qualcomm co-developed Android XR as a scalable platform for headsets, AI glasses and other devices. All apps built for Android run natively on Samsung Galaxy XR, bringing familiar mobile experiences into extended reality. The platform’s OpenXR foundation allows developers using OpenXR, WebXR or Unity to easily port their projects to Samsung Galaxy XR, expanding the ecosystem and consumer choices.
Discovery, Work and Play Without Boundaries
Human-centric design was central to Galaxy XR’s engineering. Its lightweight and balanced frame distributes pressure across the head for comfort during long sessions. The battery pack is separate from the headset to reduce weight, and a detachable light shield provides optional isolation for deeper immersion.

- 3D photo and video conversion: Two-dimensional memories are auto-spatialized into 3D for a lifelike experience.
Advanced sensors and cameras track head, hand and eye movements precisely. Beamforming microphones capture clear audio while filtering noise, allowing users to move seamlessly between virtual and physical worlds. The device also supports sports viewing, AI-assisted gaming, and 3D video editing via Adobe’s Project Pulsar.
Powered by the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 platform and Qualcomm Hexagon NPU, Samsung Galaxy XR delivers high visual clarity, 2.5 hours of battery life, and cinematic audio through 4K Micro-OLED displays with Dolby Atmos support.
Enterprise and Future Applications
Samsung is also expanding XR for enterprise use cases such as industrial and construction training. Through a collaboration with Samsung Heavy Industries, the company is using Samsung Galaxy XR for virtual shipbuilding training. It has also partnered with Qualcomm Technologies to integrate Snapdragon Spaces™ for enterprise developers, enabling secure remote collaboration and co-design solutions.
As part of its broader XR roadmap, Samsung is developing AI glasses in collaboration with Google and fashion brands such as Warby Parker and Gentle Monster, combining style and technology for seamless integration into everyday life.
